Owning a 3080 10gb is causing me VRAM issues already at 1440p. I've been watching the prices of the 3090 ti and when it drops to $700 I'll sell my 3080 for $500 and eat the $200. The VRAM on the 4070 ti doesn't have enough VRAM for many modern triple A titles.

Nothing is enough against bad PC ports.

Many reviewer claim that 8GB is insufficient but you're the only one who go extra mile to point out starting from which card. And I agree, anything above RX6600/6600XT has to be more than 8GB

Well, Vram had doubled for the 60-class with the 3060. But now Nvidia decided to reduce the capabilities of the 60-class cards from 3000 to 4000 by reducing cores, vram and bus/bandwith. I don't think that has happened in the past.

I'll never forget those days in the 90's. I had a card that had 1mb ram in my first pc

It is all about what expectations one has.
I just want 60 frames per second in 1080p without a demand for excessive eyecandy.
The 3060 ti with 8GB will do fine for a while.

the gtx1060 in my PC came out 7 years ago. 7 years before that i upgraded from a 256MB gts7600 to a 512MB gt9600. the game that defined my teen years was call of duty 2 and its system requirements were pretty freaking similar to what windows 7 needed to run. basically, being able to run mainstream games on a 10y. o. CPU and a 7y. o. GPU is kind of a new thing.

My copy of resident Evil 4 Remake is using 16GB of VRAM on my 3090ti. Granted its at 4K ultra, but wow thats a far cry from just a year or two ago where a 4K game would sit between 8-12 at the very most.

Yeah
Nvidia scammed me with a 10GB 3080, didn't notice when I bought it but rn it has become already inadequate for ultrawide 1440p in some games...
Upgraded to a 24GB 7900XTX, won't be bothered for a long time from any VRAM issue, and from buying Nvidia for even longer 😊

Having gtx 1080 from 2016 .. it has 8gb vram, i think it's time we have 16gb as minimum ( devs of games want to move on... we all want to move on.. ) unfortunately nVidia don't care.. don't buy graphic card right now with 8gb .. in a year you will need to upgrade it.. considering how expensive gpu's are.. just wait.. To be honest i would not even gamble buying 12gb gpu .. :/ I have that weird feeling they will switch to 16gb soon .. and nVidia will use that with next gpu's as selling point.. because is hot topic right now..Maybe i am wrong idk..

This is why i was so proud that intel made the A770 16GB, sure it works in marketing the card a bit more, But it was that simple thing that tells me how serious they are on producing GPUs Will they be industry leading? Who knows, Ill just go for them provided they continue to function, i dont game like i used to tbh, and on that note i would expect even 1440p gamers to be aiming for 16GB + these days.

Even at 1080p 8gb its at its limits. In Dying Light 2 with RT on the game uses 9gb just about 10gb at 1080p. My 3070ti at the point when i had it. I had to use DLSS to fit it into its Vram buffer without lowering textures.

Unless youre going 4090, skip the 4000 series and consider 7900xt/x

Glad to hear my 3060 12gb still rocks. Hope it will age well in the future.

City Skylines an old game, when the city is at 40k population it runs at 9.9gb with shaders turned down a little on my 1080ti. Love how my GTX1080ti has more vram than a some of Nvidia's new offerings and even some of their best like the RTX3080.

Games requirements are slowing down as computer power. 8GB is going to be the standard for a long time. The most GPU used on steam is the 1650 with just 4GB.

I owned a 390X and I had no idea it was actually the first 8GB card... I got a deal on a Sapphire Tri-X cause my friend couldn't get a triple crossfire set up to run decently (aww the old days of multiple gpu set ups was fun). I wonder if NVidia (if they continue to want to be in the gaming GPU space) will want to invest developing multi-gpu at that level simply to sell more mid tier GPUs?

It really depends on what you want to play. I don't find it necessary to always be on the bleeding edge. I can play a 3 or 4 year old game and be pretty happy with it.

I struggled between the 4070Ti and the 3090 (New) because i like DLSS 3 but 12 GB of Vram for a 4070Ti is just too little imo. So i decided to buy the 3090, eventually it'be compatible with FSR3 so having DLSS 2 and 24Gb is good enough for me, i plan to keep my sistem for 5 years. Glad to see i took the right choice.
