I don’t think they also took perspective into account. The game’s perspective is set on the Van der Linde gang, which ofc will see the Pinkertons as the “bad guys” and they were the “good guys.” Meanwhile, the Pinkertons prob believed that they were the “good guys” and the Van der Linde gang were the “bad guys.”
