Wits Graduation Ceremony July 2020

Wits leaders congratulate graduands and honorary doctorate recipients in the July 2020 cluster whose names appear in the graduation booklet. A closed ceremony was held on 7 July 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Witsies will have an opportunity to participate in a stage crossing ceremony when circumstances allow.

It's regrettable that it took Covid19 for Wits to record and upload a graduation ceremony. And I'm not talking about these soundbites or "trailers" we've seen over the years. An actual ceremony, from start to finish.

Well, this wasn't entirely as envisaged; but, a commendable attempt nonetheless.

I don't see why they cancelled our graduation ceremony only for two of them to go and sit in the Great Hall alone. They could take advantage of the University being under lockdown and ask that each graduand invite only 1 guest instead of the usual two and that way social distancing can easily be observed. This total cancellation doesn't make any sense. I'm so pissed off as one of the graduands.
