China, Russia accused of using AI for hacking

"Russia, China and other U.S. adversaries are using the newest wave of artificial intelligence tools to improve their hacking abilities, according to a report from Microsoft and its close business partner OpenAI.

The document attributes various uses of AI to two Chinese government-affiliated hacking groups and to one group from each of Russia, Iran and North Korea, comprising the four countries of foremost concern to Western cyber defenders.

Microsoft said it had cut off the groups’ access to tools based on OpenAI’s ChatGPT. It said it would notify the makers of other tools it saw being used and continue to share which groups were using which techniques.

Remember anything can get hacked, your phone, wallet, fridge, anything with a internet connection. I mean, if your mechanical heart pump can be hacked, what else can get hacked? Your chip in your hand, a neurolink, all things can become useless if there’s no protection on the devices which, they usually use a generic automated one

When you say AI tech isn't going anywhere, the branding isn't but large learning models like ChatGPT and Midjourney are huge moneysinks that don't make a profit. Once the venture capital dries up if they haven't massively replaced a huge workforce of human beings' jobs, those tools WILL disappear

That’s why we utilize defensive ai as a counter with deep fakes, false images, etc. The defensive ai can strengthen our algorithms & stop offensive ai from measuring, testing, and learning how a system or network functions.
