First and foremost, Gould was simply an amazing pianist. Beyond that inescapable fact, his various musical conceptions are undoubtedly the subject of strong debate. I personally love the clarity of his voicing in Bach, and how he brings such rhythm and buoyancy to the music. This is certainly my go-to performance of the French Suite No.5.
