Sony got it so wrong | Sony Xperia 10 II review

Rory is a huge fan of Sony products, and it's not hard to see why. They make class-leading cameras, class-leading headphones, and class leading gaming consoles. So why is it that they always get it so wrong with their smartphones? And perhaps nothing represents their lack of understanding of the market more than the Sony Xperia 10 II.

Considering other similarly-specced midrange phone for cheaper price, I can see why not everyone prefers the Xperia 10 ii. But then again, I see no midrange phone on sale today that offers IP68 rating and a native telephoto camera. All midrange phones that I see always have a useless small res macro and depth sensor.

why do people expect so much refined specs from a mid ranger device. I think thats what it is supposed to be, a bit of some good features here and unrefined stuff there thats it. The price says it all you know. Of record however the experia 10ii is not a slow device, I use one and the chipset does handle most of the tasks very well.

Definitely a Sony hater on this phone at least, even though you say you ain't. You just don't get it. Got this phone and it's definitely not feeling cheap or slow. Yes it's not premium smooth but it's s mid range. Camera ain't that bad at all. Again you have to use manual mode to even use HDR . You right though bout the speakers. And no there is no phone like Xperia 10 II. The 21:9 is just the better reason to have this phone. Love this phone to be honest. Great battery, great screen, 3.5 mm jack, high PPI that's even better than Sony Xperia 5 II. Lots of storage. The multitasking works great. Yes camera is slow, but if you know that it take deasent pictures. One more thing it don't have. A notch or a ugly hole in the screen for a camera. So no, their isn't a phone like this even though it's not the newest midrange specs. And one more thing. It has NFC such ain't that common in midrange phone.

Got this last week brand new, only equivalent RM1380. Your weak currency makes it appear expensive. Could have done with more RAM but happy with it (I don't care about camera). And as someone who wouldn't use Chinese brand all those alternatives are pointless.

This smartphone was actually pretty good for it's price. Things like highest IP rating, Gorilla Glass 6 for front and back, Dual Front Facing speakers are some of the things that you either cannot or are really hard to find in this price range.
The 2 main problems are the chip they used and the fact that they didn't focus much on the software side. Due to this, overall software performance, camera performance and speaker quality suffered.
If you compare this to the Pixel 3a (latest A smartphone of that time), it suxks against the Xperia 10 ii in terms of hardware. But just because of a better chipset and amazing focus on software, that smartphone beats the hell out of Xperia 10 ii.

It's a GREAT smartphone! A great battery, screen camera and sound for it bug! It isn't slow! For the bug it's great value for money. Dont buy a high end. It is great built. The review is to negatieve. I have the phone and there is no negatives.

If i want to take a good photo I'll use my Canon digital camera, why reviewers are so obsessed about being able to take professional photos using mid range phones is beyond me.

The reason im chosing this phone is because im looking for a durable phone with great audio output. I rarely use my camera rarely and speakers, but i need a phone that supports bluetooth 5 + Aptx HD and has a phone jack and is IP68 because i live in a country there it rains alot and use even on the gym and i need to spray it so it cleans + i want a compact phone and this is the shortest mindrange i could find.

I am using the xperia 10 ii for a month and find your review quite true.
Camera is the most downside of this phone imo, but i like it's narrow (width is 69mm), and more importantly it is cheaper in my place at HKD2500 (~RM1330), which is much more reasonable that at your place.

i have been a sony user since 2005 and i cannot understand why my phone from 2016 has a 23 mp camera and these new models have only 12 mp cameras....

Was i living under a rock or something? This dude complains that multitasking on this phone is slow and that scrolling with a 60hz refresh rate is trash.
I don't see any problems with it.

It has the perfect design smartphone for me but the soc was unacceptable. Hope 10 iii will come with sd 7 series.
