Steve Stevens and The String Revolution Honor Late Ozzy Guitarist Randy Rhoads with Cover of “Crazy Train”.

Please note correction for the video: Randy’s birth year is 1956 not 1965. Apologies for the typo.

The String Revolution and Steve Stevens (Billy Idol, Michael Jackson, Top Gun Theme) teamed up to create a flamenco-tinged cover of Ozzy Osborne's classic hit, "Crazy Train", as a tribute to Randy Rhoads. The String Revolution’s Janet Robin, who was one of Rhoads’ only female and youngest student, said they wanted to maintain the energy of the original track yet put their own stamp on it, much like Randy would say to his students during lessons. Randy would have turned 65 in December 2021, was Inducted by Tom Morello into the 2021 Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and March 19, 2022 will be the 40th anniversary of his untimely passing. This is for you, Randy.

Their classical re-imagining of the original, the flamenco-driven “Crazy Train” by Stevens and The String Revolution, led by Robin and featuring Markus Illko, Daniel Schwarz, and Art Zavala Jr., was their perfect homage to Rhoads, who continued taking guitar lessons through his days with Osbourne. At seven years old, Rhoads began taking classical guitar lessons before switching over to electric guitar and started teaching by the age of 16.

Thank you Janet and Friends.. for asking Steve Stephens to play with you. It made me put my cellphone down and go buy a acoustic after stopped playing around 1981 and try and figure out what the heck y'all doing. It's been fun just playing again. This one song woke me up. Thanks again...

Ah damnit man, Steve's solo actually got me teary eyed when I heard the effort, admiration, respect he had for RR come from his heart and through his fingers across the strings.
Great job guys!

@3:55 Small details to watch in the animation. Janet Robins with the red streak in her hair. Steve Stevens with the shades and more red, plus smokin' solo. Who does a solo with a nylon string acoustic guitar anymore? #FlamencoStyle

Imagine if Hee Haw was still on TV? This Crazy Train Acoustic rendition would blow their minds. #BuckOwens #RoyClark

What a great job and tribute to an all time A leaguer. Randy would have loved this on acoustic guitar.

Randy Rhoads the only rock and metal musician to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ahead of the band he helped make
