Yes, its definitely a trick that can be hard to deal with, but lets be honest, there are a lot of stuff out there that makes more damage and is much easier to pull off then playing a riven champ. Riven needs her damage bc she has nothing else. No range, No sustain. Just damage and some mobility, which is both easily outshined by a lot of champs. To play Riven at the same elo you are now, you need to invest much more effort compared to a lot of other champs.
