As someone from a shoes on household I definitely think it’s RUDE to leave your shoes on when entering anyone else’s home 😅

definitely shoes off, unless it’s slippers that are only worn in the house it’s disgusting to bring dirt all over your home

I'm team "it depends on the house and owners".
Living in rural PA, I knew people whose floor was still the plywood subfloor or just cement so they would insist you keep shoes on.

Indian here! Definitely shoes off! And agree 200% with you Mimo, this practice comes from hygiene point of view.

We had the rule of washing our hands and feet after removing our footwear before proceeding to do anything else.
We also change to our home clothes asap, and the outside ones go to the wash area.
Nowadays, not many follow these two, though!

If someone wore shoes in my house I’d cry

As someone who lives in the Caribbean, definitely shoes off. We've been brought up that way.

Although i know some people do leave shoes on here too so whenever i go to someones house i just stand awkwardly waiting for instructions

As a Bangladeshi, it's always shoes off at home. And we have separate sandels for home, for house members and guests. Usually 4 pairs for guests. But if it's a big gathering with more than 10-15 people, the guests just stay bare feet. It's not awkward, it's a common practice. Even if we go to someone's home, we take our shoes off.

Aussie here, I love being a shoes off person. I keep a plaster drip tray, meant for an oil change for the car, just inside my front door. It’s big enough to fit three pairs of shoes. There’s a mat just inside the door so I can step on the mat, remove shoes and place on tray. I live in a reasonably high rainfall area, so shoes are often wet

I'm team, "I'm disabled so I need my shoes with their supports on at all times, and my often-sore fingers aren't always up to lacing and unlacing to change them".

Grew up in a shoes on household and have one now as well .. we don’t really like to be shoe-less…and we also don’t have time to vacuum multiple times a day to make walking on the floor without shoes pleasant …we are not getting sketched out …it’s fine …

I prefer shoes on mainly because I have flat feet and need the support. But I totally agree with the logic of shoes off to prevent tracking guck through the house.

We're team "whichever makes you more comfortable" in our house! My fiancé hates wearing shoes, so he kicks his off as soon as he gets home. I have medical issues that mean I need orthotics, and walking barefoot is painful, so I usually always have my shoes on, since they have the most ankle support as well.
That said, I understand and respect that people have different rules in their own homes; if we're visiting someone who doesn't allow shoes in the house, I make sure to bring either (depending on season and how cold my feet are lol) my orthotic slippers or the orthotic sandals I only ever wear inside.

I was always brought up to just take your shoes off when entering someone's home, & then they can direct you from there. The cake is gorgeous Mimo!! ✨️

As an Indian we do have a shoerack placed by the gate. Plus, if the guests are close relatives then it's expected that they wash their feet and face with water and step inside

Just this past week, my children (Caribbean here) asked me why people on American TV keep their dirty shoes on INSIDE their houses.
Many families have house slippers, but aside from that, it's considered poor manners to "bring the road" into the house, especially when visiting other people's homes.

American/Egyptian household here, shoes off. So far we’ve never had anyone complain about it.

Shoes off in the house, 100%. My mom lived in Japan for a few years as a young adult and picked up the habit of leaving shoes at the door there, and she passed it down to us. If you just have tile or vinyl I kind of get not wanting to bother with taking them off, but it definitely grosses me out a bit when people wear outside shoes onto carpet.

I'm fine with either! I prefer not wearing shoes indoors but often times I'll forget to even take them off until close to bedtime. If we have guests over, they normally keep their shoes on but they're allowed to take them off if they want

For born and raised alaskans we also have no shoes in the house rule. It's customary to have a shoe rack for guests
