I read that in the Season 6 finale, Elizabeth was supposed to contact Ross because she was pregnant, and suspected that he was the baby daddy. But then, it turned out to be another random guy. They decided to scrap it because they planned on having a similar storyline with Ross and Rachel the following season, and didn't want to make it redundant.
