Regarding RCEP, my view is, till what time GOI would be having Protectionist policies for domestic manufacturers. GOI needs to be hard on their domestic manufacturing companies so that they matchup to global standard levels in goods and services.

India has FTA with all the ASEAN countries, so practically they have no real motivation to nudge India to join RCEP. It is China who is the unseen hand behind RCEP to just dump its own cheap goods in Indian market and avoid Indian trade barriers. That is is the biggest reason why they are not agreeing on the rule of "country of origin".
