I am having trouble getting the paint to adhere to the bottles. I spray with alum a couple times.

I just came from Facebook Reels where you were dipping Christmas ornaments. I'm trying to understand the process. Does the paint lift up from the solution onto the bottle and how many bottles can you do in one session? I'll watch more of your videos to try and get a better understanding. My initial thought was you were using diluted white glue or Mod Podge.
