I presently have (for approximately 3 years now) a Schwab Intelligent portfolio, my issue is with the tax harvesting losses. It seems lately my account has been rebalanced and the result has been losses, don't understand this. I always assumed when you rebalance it is to bring the portfolio back to it's original allocation and usually you are selling positions that have increased in value and thus a gain. In my case I already have booked losses in other accounts to offset gains I may realize this year and right now do not need additional losses on the books in fear I would lose the tax benefit. Does Schwab look at gains in my other Schwab non-intelligent gains in generating these tax losses, if it does this is not what I signed up for. What am I missing, any insight you could provide.
