Benjamin Netanyahu has said that a ceasefire in the war in Israel-Gaza “will not happen”, describing calls for a ceasefire as “calls for Israel to surrender to barbarism”.

The Israeli Prime Minister said during a press briefing: “Calls for a ceasefire are calls for Israel to surrender to Hamas, to surrender to terrorism, to surrender to barbarism. That will not happen”.

“I hope and pray that civilised nations will back this fight,” he said, but he added: “Regardless of who stands with Israel, Israel will fight this war until it is won”.

He compared calls for a ceasefire after October 7 to calling on the US to agree to a ceasefire after 9/11 or the bombing of Pearl Harbour.

Mr Netanyahu said that Hamas were prepared to “destroy all that we cherish and usher in a world of fear and darkness”.
