byte, short, int, and long are primitive data types for declaring integers
int is the most commonly used of the four. Variables declared as integers can hold whole numbers such as -2, -7, 52 and 187. Integer data types cannot hold floating point numbers (numbers with a decimal point). Integers embedded into Java source code are called integer literals.
