But the point of the movie is that everyone deserves a great love story, that's even that tagline, it's supposed to normalize it. Simon already knows that his family and friends will support him, it's still hard to come out, but he knows, the point of the movie is that he gets the guy, he gets the guy just like every other cheesy teen flick where the guy gets the girl because everyone deserves a great love story, i recommend reading the book by the way!

I have to disagree with you very very much on that last part. That ending where Blue is revealed and they share a moment together is so important to LGBT people who have never had the experience of seeing this in movies growing up.
You say that it's cliched and predictable. Yes, it is, with usual straight teenage kids. We've seen it a million times.
But when Simon and Blue kisses on top of that Ferris wheel, my heart felt so warm and cozy and was virtually bursting with emotion and excitement, in a way that, frankly, I've never thought I would feel because this scene is portrayed so many times in other movies. But seeing it now with someone I can actually relate to, I almost cried with love and joy.
To most people, they've seen this a million times and it doesn't mean much. But for us, this is the first.
I've watched this movie 2 times already, and still feel like going back to watch it again. It's not because it's a masterpiece of film and writing, but because I can leave this movie feeling love and hopeful. This is the teen love story that we've never had. So try to understand how important it is for us to have that emotional moment at the end, without it, this movie just doesn't feel complete.
