I have been living in the Philippines for 9 years, in Thailand for 4 years, in Indonesia for 2 years. I lived in France for more than a year, Cameroon 4 years, Norway 20 years, Sweden 1 year and Romania for 4 years also, so I am getting old haha. I was in Albania several times back in the days in 1991 and 1992, at that time it was very dangerous. I also spent time in ex Jugoslavia. I have established myself in Spain. I visited Tunisia and so many countries in this world, liike all of Europe, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Cambodia, ; India and too many places to even list here. What you have to consider is the Visa policy. I find that the Philippines is the most welcoming nation of them all. That is why I have a wife and a child in the Philippines. Nothing comes even close to that wonderful Nation.

As an experienced "ex-pat", I encourage anyone who is thinking about relocating for retirement to just do it. Embrace the adventure. Please allow me to mention 2 concerns however. If you don't understand the language in your destination of choice, you may quickly feel extremely isolated when you realize you don't know what anyone is talking about. The 2nd thing is, there's usually a reason why things are cheap.

Expat in the Philippines and I really like it. Beautiful islands and people. If you budget correctly you can live very comfortably. A longtime U.S. ally, the Philippines is also within easy travel distance to other southeast Asian countries.

I've lived/worked in a few of those countries, but there were others mentioned I'd never considered before. Although those costs seem a bit low, unless you go rural or 'native', reality isn't too much more. Still viable if you're trying to get along with an average retirement pension, and still a bit to set aside for holidays and savings.

Cambodia's affordability makes it a top contender for my retirement destination.

Safety and low cost of living are my top criteria for choosing a retirement destination.

I'm not bothered by sound effect. I suggest you lower it down or turn it off.😅😊😮

I´m currently living in Chile and if safety is your priority do not consider Santiago by any means. Cost of living is fine, internet in my opinion is excellent. South in my opinion is the most beautiful area.

for so many visas, safety and is english spoken are the key issues. for non english speakers different but obviously native spanish speakers have many options. health services and costs another really important fact

Great content, thanks. Just the damned ring every time a price appears annoys me like hell. Without that it would be really good!

Expats and tourism will make everything expensive anyway.

Vietnam is cool. The rest of the countries I would not consider for various reasons.
