Draft of new constitution to be given to Tunisian president on Monday

In Tunisia, the head of the constitutional committee will hand over a draft of the new constitution to President Kais Saied on Monday.

Last month, an advisory committee was formed to draft a new constitution for a new republic. A referendum on the new constitution is expected to take place next month. But the opposition says it will boycott the vote. Thousands have also rallied against the controversial referendum. If a new constitution is given the go ahead, it would cement President Saied's hold on power.
