The Ferrari F355 is my favorite Ferrari... almost. I drove this 1997 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta to explain exactly what I mean.

I have owned a 355 for 12 years. I can say that in my case the "almost" issues are greatly exaggerated. Most of these cars do less than 3000 miles per year. You can absolutely go 7 years between engine out services. Also, the valve guide are not 100% failure. there are many 355's (including mine) that have the original valve guides without any indication of needing replacement. If you do need them replaced, you piggy back that on an engine out service and save a lot of dough. I proactively replaced my headers at a cost of $3K. Lastly, my independent Ferrari mechanic charges me $4500 for the engine out service. Those are real numbers from an actual owner. Treat the car right, and it will in return. Drive it, it needs it. When they sit for long periods of time, they tend to have issues. By the way, I'm not some rich guy. These cars are very affordable. Get one before the prices spike.

It’s a timeless looking Ferrari. Just beautiful.

The "almost" is from the ticking time bomb of the engine exploding into flames...as Doug warned Hoovie.

Definitely one of the first cars that pops in my head when I think of Ferrari- along with the F40.

Very nice video. I have had a 355 spider for 10 years. it is a wonderful car to look at and drive. It is a fun car for me and I have only put 5000 miles on it since I bought it and it now has 32000 on it. It is a 1999 and as for maintenance, I had the belt service done last year for the first time in the car's history. I always drove it carefully and never extreme and if you are not taking it to the track every weekend I think most 355 owners will tell you that the 3 year 5000 mile belt change is not necessary. If you drive it like a normal car and maybe once in a while drive fast on the open road 10 years or 10000 miles before belt change should be fine. This would give you an average cost of $1000 a year plus the occasional o2 sensor or other incidentals. I have been fortunate and have had no major issues since I owned the car except a radiator fan coming loose and scoring the radiator core. After much aggravation of removing the damaged radiator and taking it to the radiator shop, the radiator repair was $45 and I bought 2 new electric fans for the radiators and put them in myself for $75 each. if you are interested in one of these cars being able to do simple repairs like this radiator will save you a lot on the maintenance cost of the car.

One time in Orlando Florida about 2003, I was sitting at a stoplight waiting for it to turn green. As I was waiting, I heard possibly the most amazing automotive sound I have ever heard before, or since, coming up behind me. As I sat there it very quickly arrived. It was a bright red Ferrari F355 racing to catch the green turn lane signal for entry onto the interstate. That thing raised the hair on the back of my neck as it arrived and raced past, just from the sound alone.

2 reasons why I wouldnt let this guy review my Koenissegg ....

1 . He wets the seat everytime he test drives a car, even the slight rumble of a honda will cause him to jizz all over the seat.

2. I dont have a koenigssegg.

My older brother was once loaned an F355 (just like this one) by his boss. Being 17 years old and a huge car nut, I was the first person my brother came to with the car. We had an absolute blast in that Ferarri. Even better, when returning to drop me off home, a girl down the street who I had a HUGE crush on was walking by my house at the time. The car helped break the ice and I got a few months of good lovin with a girl way out of my league.
That day with that Ferrari will always be one of the best days of my life. For that reason this particular model will always have a special place for me.

I remember that when I was a teenager that car was featured in the latest James Bond film "Golden Eye" Wow. It seems ages ago.

My favorite Ferrari I drove when I was a Ferrari salesman in the early 90's was a 1966 330 GTC. 300hp with intake noise & exhaust note that was truly a symphony. I agree with you about horsepower. It's more enjoyable if you have to use skill to drive through corners to keep speed versus just point & shoot. The 328 was a very nice driver too.

Imagine... Its the 90s, you drive to a girls house to pick her up for a night out, you are waiting outside, she comes out, walks to the car, opens the door and then...

My Audi A4 does the same thing with the door open. It also has a similar key to the Gallardo. I have a supercar.
