I'm pretty sure spoiler crimes could be an entire video! I also detest those "baked in" stickers on book covers. I have enjoyed your weaponization of Melinda's video. Thanks for expanding this into a tag!

Deckled edges are the most annoying thing ever. I've had a paper cut off deckled edges and. most of the time you can't jkust turn over a single page, but get a pair of pages each time.

That was fun to watch. The sad thing is there are people who go to free libraries and take books to sell on line they don’t even bother replacing any they took.

I'm annoyed at how I organise my books, I can never find anything. Thanks for the tag! Loved the original vid and its a great idea to weaponise!

Love this tag! On a subject related to stickers for prizes: one thing that irritates me is when a book cover says “winner of the >insert literary prize<“ when that specific book was not the one that won the prize. This obviously refers to the author, not the book. But it still strikes me as deceptive. I’m certain some people see that on the cover and assume the book itself won the prize, even though it was probably a previous book by that author.

Also, fellow fan of deckled edges here. 😸

I'm incredibly annoyed by movie tie-in covers! I read somewhere that the publishing houses do it because it really does increase sales, though I don't understand how or why.

Thanks for tagging me. the .5 in a series I find is common with Brandon Sanderson when he adds a Novella to one of his established series... like Edgedancer (The Stormlight Archive, #2.5). It doesn't bother me too much as I rarely follow series. At library school we used to joke about arranging books chromatically...now it is an aesthetic choice! Great answers.

This was such a fun tag, hopefully I’ll get to it sometime! I don’t get why deckled edges bother people either 😅

Yes, I too am seriously annoyed by the Oprah, Reese, GMA, etc. circles that are integrated into the cover designs. Usually, I resell those to my used bookstore, but if it’s a book I intend to keep, I cover those circles with pretty stickers of my own. I know this sounds crazy, but there are lovely gold seals produced for letter writing and also people on Etsy that make stickers specifically for this purpose. The only thing that matters is that the sticker be acid free so that it won’t harm the book and you could remove it if you want to. I feel like an author has worked so hard to produce a work of art, why should someone else’s name be in it? Also annoying is when the publisher puts a big blurb on the front which eclipses the title, especially if the blurb is from another author that I’m not keen on. To me that’s even worse.

Kelly! The stupid label as part of the cover drives me nuts too! Ugh 😠. It’s like wearing your clothes with the size and care labels hanging out. Some people might be proud of their labels, but I, for one, keep mine hidden or remove them all together. 🤭 Great video as always!

Haha - I’m going to need to dig to find annoyances! Thanks for the Tag!

Oh so many things...
When you buy from Amazon and the set is mismatched or the book was obviously damaged before it was shipped.
When publishers let bookclubs buy advertising space on the covers of books like Oprah, Reese, Jenna, etc. When publishers change a consistent design like Penguin did. When an eBay seller says nothing about the book being a former library book, or that it is moldy, or damaged. And when publishers change the name of an older book and republish it. The deceit in publishing and online buying is legion.

I stopped reading introductions to books because so many have spoilers! I save them for after I've finished the book. It's like these people assume everyone has already read it and know what happens. Even more obnoxious when the story itself gives away pivotal plot developments and the ending multiple times, like The Book Thief, which I just did a scathing video about.

Hi Kelly, Thank you for tagging me. This is a very cool book tag, and I will work on possibly getting a video up for it. 😊

I am with you about the color coded shelves. They are lovely and they don't annoy me, but I am mystified as to how they "work" as personal libraries. Thanks for weaponizing! I love it!

These are excellent questions! Thanks, Kelly. You seem to be enjoying yourself as you laugh about your minor annoyances. Really lovely!

This tag has taken off like wildfire in the past week. Well done.
I admit that a change in format has annoyed me – when Hard Case Crime books went from mass market paperback (seven inch) size to trade paperback (eight inch) size. For reissues of mid-20th century crime books, mass market paperback size really was the ideal. One could easily imagine them on a spinner rack in a drug store in 1965.

Great tag, Kelly! Melinda tagged me, so I came over to check out the original. I recorded it today, so it'll go up next week. And, oh, I see that someone else here mentioned movie tie-in covers - I dislike those, too! Thanks for creating the tag!

You're smiling far too much for this to be a tag about annoyance! 🤣
