Would you have done the same and stepped down if you were Magic?

I love how Shannon asked him why. Direct and insightful.

So basically, Jeannie wasn’t letting him do his job.

0:57 boy this how I'm feeling right now! I'm 29 and a Assistant plant manager. The work is fine but there's people under me that doesn't support nor listen to me. They are protected when they do something wrong while everyone is upset with me when they dont get stuff done. They say dont micromanage, but there's no other way... sucks when you have to get the information from someone who doesn't want to help in their actions yet their words is saying a different story....I can only go so long until enough is enough 🙏🏾

Imagine your GM wants to fire a lousy coach and you tell him no. Afterwards he decides he is leaving the team bc you won’t let him do his job then days later you found out he was right and fire the coach 😂. Lakers organization for you

So the Lakers basically chose Luke over Magic in this instance 😭😭

Magic understand how important coaching is. All Great Players do. Look at a coaching change did for the Warriors with Mark Jackson & Steve Kerr.

I would've stepped down too. If you can't make an executive decision as an executive, then you are in a position in name only and just a figurehead to be used by the powers that be. Magic is a business owner and a multi millionaire, so he didn't need the check or the headache, so why would he stay? Plus to allow Rob Pelinka (the world's worst GM) to undermine his boss' position with no repercussions, made magic lose faith in ownership which demanded his immediate departure. Magic did right and not letting Lebron know at that time was the right and professional thing to do. Kudos to Magic!

Magic is a true Laker fan. Walton as coach was the darkest days of show time.

Can't wait for the whole interview to drop.

From his own failed coaching stint, Magic knows what it looks like when the coaching ability isn't there and the player morale is in free fall.

Being that this is technically another corporate mainstream podcast you wouldn't expect Shannon to be actually asking such straight to the point questions. And getting such straight to the point answers as well. Hes a great interviewer.
