Minecraft: Story Mode - How does it even work?

Over the weekend, at this years Minecon 2015, Minecraft: Story Mode was finally unveiled. We got to see a brand new gameplay trailer, which is included in this video, before a few of the developers took to the stage to explain their plans for the 5 episode series. All sounds pretty exciting, but how is it even going to work? Here's a little round-up of everything we know about the game so far!

So the idea is... that the player... is playing AS a Minecraft player... experiencing their own adventure in their own game of Minecraft? Am I on the right track?

Lol you get an immediate like for resurrecting the ~2004 forumspeak acronym 'OMGWTFBBQ' which I haven't heard in years. 

Story mode does look good. I got into Minecraft for a time, but it was more a social thing, meeting friends on servers and building stuff together. I found it difficult to get any more engaged than that primarily because of the lack of any kind of 'narrative', so if this story mode gives the standard Minecraft game mechanics a sense of purpose/achievement, then I'm all for it. This could be just the kick I need to get back into the world I loved.

A lot of people shat on this game when it was announced, but I am actually really looking forward to it. One of my favorite things to do while playing minecraft is imagining my own Lore and storylines, and now there will be a game about it. Hooray!

I am gonna play this. Minecraft has always been about (original) stories, like the Machinima's, Animations, etc. This will be a great game.

They shouldn't make it a separate game, they should make it a mode in minecraft. If they make it a separate game, its like, where the heck did my stats go?! Plus it WOULD make a great addition to Minecraft!

I cannot wait to play this game, it looks great! Minecraft and the Telltale Games are my favorite games going for the last 4 years. So Psyched to play these :D

I've played most of TellTale's games and I've only enjoyed TWD, I'm not sure about this one.

i preordered and i would love if it would look like normal minecraft from the screen (first person, tools in right hand, hotbar and health in the buttom of the screen)

Why am I the only one that thinks this will work? I'm really hyped! This game will be real fun, and just as good as the other games. It will improve on the other tt games by having more quirky characters with main character you can control and relate to. Please keep an open mind about this. This could be a great success.

Mixed thoughts on this one, on one hand I'm still really confused as to how on earth this will work for a game with (from what I can gather) no actual plot, but then again if anyone COULD make this work in this format, I think it would be TellTale! I think this is just a case of "We'll wait and see how this goes"
