In 2019, I bought a box of 2018 topps finest baseball for around $100. I pulled gold /50 ohtani autograph. Sold it for $300, Now graded, it’s a $10, 000-$20, 000 card

Dude you’re a real one for showing yourself putting that back. Everyone in the card game has taken an L, most pretend it didn’t happen. You’re the man

When I was a kid, at a card show, I wanted to buy 2 single cards, my dad said “For $60, let’s get a whole box of cards instead”. The box of cards we got = 1987 Fleer Basketball wax (not bad), the 2 cards I wanted = 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan RCs! 😩

I bought a box of cards at a rummage sale in 1970. It included literally hundreds of baseball cards from the 40s and 50s. I paid $10.
Fast forward to the early 80s. I was married and broke and sold the for $500 to make rent.
I had 1951 and 1952 Mantles, rookies of Aaron, Mayes, etc.
Still floating in my tears.

Bought a T-206 Tris Speaker for $350 and had it graded and then sold it 2 years later for $760. I felt good that I doubled my investment. 5 years later, during Covid, the person who bought my exact card sold it for $22000. My wife doesn't want me to sell any more vintage cards.

I'm a huge babe ruth collector...I actually passed up on a blue and a red version of a 1914 Baltimore News Babe Ruth about 4 years ago...and later came to realize they were both Authentic at the time I didn't know enough about authenticating prewar cards.. but now knowing about lithography and solid borders and which card stock should should be which thickness..I missed out on potentially 12 million dollars. This is coming from a collector with over 150 original Ruth cards graded by SGC and PSA. I will have a channel soon to share my story on huge losses and gains. Your video will forever remind me of my biggest loss. Love the channel BTW! Keep grind

You only find if you are looking for them. Glad you showed the card community you can still find gems.

I was born in 84. And in 1994 so at the age of 10. I was living in a small town and found a bunch of old basketball, football, and baseball card packs from the mid 80's early 90's. I ended up buying 2 packs of the FLEER 86'-87' and ended up pulling 2 Michael Jordan Rookie Cards. I ended up selling them to a friend along with my complete card collection for $150 when I was like 16. Biggest mistake of my life

THIS is EXACTLY the type of video that haunts me! I got back into the hobby during COVID and over the next few years I've accumulated 50, 000 or so cards and ... I'm NOT smart enough to be able to just "leaf through them" and pull out all of the valuable ones! AND I don't have enough time to go card-by-card looking up each card! So, therein lies the thing of nightmares ... wondering what I'm missing, passing over, about to sell for one one thousandth its worth, etc., etc., etc.

Sorry you missed out, but I DO appreciate the honesty!

When in doubt in a $1 bin box, always buy. Always, always buy when in doubt. I would rather lose $50 in a bin box on something that doesn't pan out, than lose $5000 to something that does. I've learned this lesson many times over. Always buy when in doubt in a discount bin box.

Not sure if you are familiar with reprints but it could be possible this card you passed on was indeed a reprint more then likely. One is on ebay on bids for over 100 and in the description says reprint. Good luck on future finds hopefully this might give you some peace of mind.

that hurts i'm sorry to hear that you didn't pick it up. Biggest loss ever was back in 2018, Ohtani's rookie year, i was offered a deal on 2018 Topps Update Boxes at 50 a piece, could have capped out at 25 cases or something absurd and i are $1200 a piece now, i think about it often and it's sad lol

This is a genuine vid and respect to the hobby bro. We have all been there and have done something like that at some point in our hobby lives. But being a good and honest collector buyer/seller will always even things out. Great videos! Don’t give up bro just keep doing what you are!

You're instincts were spot on, you gave that card more attention then any other card. Forget about it and move on, you will find a bigger treasure.

If it makes you feel better I would have passed on it also. My worst mistake was in 1980 when I got back into collecting. My local comic/card store owner tried like heck to talk me into buying a 1959 Bob Gibson RC for $12, I passed & have regretted it to this day! Happy ending, my son bought the card for me a few years ago.
