Idk if Spitsy will reply, but I think he's on the Fanatec. I use a controller, and pretty much everyone says it's easier to use the wheel as you're able to hold the steering, so you're able to get more lock, transition quicker, usually get a better line etc. This means that generally wheel drifters are faster than controller drifters.

Get a MadCatz Mc2. 80 bucks off amazon, 270 degrees turning, spring loaded. I have it, Its an amazing wheel!

Get a MS wheel off eBay. Prices vary, but you should be able to get a decent one for around £50.
