In 2002 The Living Seas Seacab ride was shut down, the Hydrolators were still operating, and Nemo hadn't moved in yet. The Living Seas opened on January 15, 1986. United Technologies was the sponsor until 1998. Preshow theater #2 changed to a bypass hallway to the Hydrolators in 1998/99, for those that did not want to sit through the 7-minute preshow movie "The Sea". Following 9/11 a lull in tourism caused the Seacab ride to shut down in Oct. 2001. Guests would exit the Hydrolators, walk past a boarded up ride, and walk through the ride's wheelchair bypass hallway to Seabase Alpha. After the success of Finding Nemo, the pavilion started to get some Nemo elements in Nov. 2004. The Hydrolators were removed in 2005. Guests entered through the exit, and more Nemo retheming took over all the exhibits. Preshow theater #1 was reconstructed into an expanded ride track. The Hydrolator area would become the expanded Nemo queue, and part of the ride. The former Seacab ride was lengthened 280 feet and in October 2006, The Seas with Nemo & Friends ride opened. The super popular Turtle Talk with Crush was moved from one of the modules to the old preshow theater #2. The module in front of it became the Turtle Talk preshow lobby.
