IRIS pairs legendary 87-year-old documentarian Albert Maysles with Iris Apfel, the quick-witted, flamboyantly dressed 93-year-old style maven who has had an outsized presence on the New York fashion scene for decades. More than a fashion film, the documentary is a story about creativity and how, even in Iris' dotage, a soaring free spirit continues to inspire. IRIS portrays a singular woman whose enthusiasm for fashion, art and people are life's sustenance and reminds us that dressing, and indeed life, is nothing but an experiment. Despite the abundance of glamour in her current life, she continues to embrace the values and work ethic established during a middle-class Queens upbringing during the Great Depression. Something interesting is that I've watched every single fashion movie / documentary available, and I must say that IrisApfel and Bill Cunningham's documentaries are the most inspiring, stylish and fabulous ones I''ve been exposed to. I totally adore Iris, who @ 93-years-young is still going strong, designing jewelry, shoes, brooches, bracelets, rings that are fun to wear.
She never misses anything when she is doing a show on HSN. The glasses she wears makes her look a bit like an owl and even designs
jewelry and pocketbooks that look like owls ~ so cute and always full of whimsy!! She makes me feel so good about aging; I plan to live to be in excellent health 'til I am 100+.
I am looking forward to seeing the documentary about her!! 
She truly is a "beautiful" woman#!!!

I had never seen or heard of her until I saw her in the target commercial and I was wondering who she was so I googled to find her.

The lady that said "...she was never going to be pretty (but that she had style)..." was lying. Iris style is incomparable to anything...but she was good looking when she was young. She wasn't a model, but she was FAR from ugly or unnoticeable, she WAS physically good looking.
