A tip when replacing the fuel filter: take the protective caps off the new one before taking the old one off. When you take a line off, cap the connection of the old filter. That way you won't get as drenched in fuel when taking the old filter off :)

When you changed the fuel filter it reminded me of when you changed the corsa filter. It was the first job I ever did on my corsa myself. Since then I've done all the repairs and services myself. I'm now into the 12 Year of owner my little corsa.
Thanks James you saved me a fortune.

Always a satisfying watch seeing a car being serviced

they were factory filters, except the oil, funny thing they are mileage dependant in the service schedule, it could be the main dealer only did the first three years and it was within miles to not replace, or like many main stealers they couldn't be arsed

It's such a joy to watch your antics under a motor and do the bits and bobs.. So fascinating...

As a fellow drive way and self taught 'mechanic' as well as someone who spends a lot of time on his back under a car on jack stands, I would like to say I appreciate you James. Watched your videos for ages but never commented, I guess better late than never :) Top Guy.

20:58 The timing chain seems to be a bit long. Not supposed to take that long for oil pressure to build on the chain tensioner to stretch out. Check when the engine is cold if it rattles for more than 3 seconds after having been sitting. I remember the old video of this bad boy

Thanks for encouraging me to do this service, plus spark plugs, on a newly acquired Roomster 1.2 tsi.
I hated changing the fuel filter, struggled like hell pulling off the hoses, got petrol in my face. Bad design VW.
Cabin filter- I actually put my hand in to find which way the vent blows.
Spark plugs - got myself a £40 torque wrench. For pulling off the cables and for pushing them back in, I’m going to get a tool, as when using just ordinary pliers was very clumsy, potentially damaging.
Oil change - got 10 litres 5w-40 from Halfords, used 5l to flush. Like the oil filter access.
Will definitely consider servicing myself, deep mistrust of local garages.
Cheers.

hello there, if youre going to reuse the sump plugg and it has a copper washer, just use a torch on it, that will soften up the copper again to make a better seal.

Good stuff. I'm tackling the missus Fabia this week and it's good to watch someone tackling the job first. Much appreciated.

It's a 2011 car. I got a 61 plate registered September 2011 so 6 months newer. They aren't carbon those pollen filters just really manky. Mine had a full Skoda history and don't reckon they changed it. I DIY mine. Same with the fuel filter. Main dealer standards are appalling. DIY so you know it's done right. Good video.

3:07 - the breather hose. There is a good info about it on Briskoda. When I pulled the air filter housing, the said hose popped and I noticed that it’s been superglued on the engine head. There is supposed to be a grommet and the one way valve slides in.
How did you reattach yours?
Apparently people don’t notice and a petrol smell results.

Having always serviced my cars it's always nice to check others before I do a new car (skoda rapid 1.2 tsi so same engine) just to make sure. Good stuff James, have since watched pretty much all of you videos. Clear simple and easy to follow. Good work
