On April 14, 1965, Frank Mitchell became the first Black American Page to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 20th century. Mitchell recounts being a Page during debates about landmark civil rights legislation, including the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

The interview was conducted on June 2, 2010, by the Office of History and Preservation as part of the House of Representatives Oral History Program.
