CMF Phone 1 & New Lumias! | Budget Phones Levelled Up | TSW203

Nothing's CMF Phone 1 and new HMD Lumia-style budget smartphones are set to launch in July 2024, so here's a look at those leaks so far. If you want a cheap mobile, looks like this summer is going to be a bit sunnier after all.

First up, the CMF Phone 1 by Nothing should offer a very different budget smartphone design. If you get similar specs to the Phone 2A but with a more affordable asking price, this could be one worth considering. Leaks so far certainly suggest that's the case, minus the glyph lights. Nothing will launch the CMF Phone 1 on July 8, hopefully here in the UK.

Alternatively, HMD Global (home of Nokia phones) will reveal the new Lumia-style budget smartphones on July 10 2024. We've had no official word so far, only leaks. But we can expect a couple of new handsets, with respectable specs for a cheap mobile.

As a finnish person i had several Nokia phones in the past. I hate Microsoft for coming in and destroying the brand and not even keeping up with the phone business.

Ahhh nostalgia, I had Nokia Lumia 620. You could drop it on hard surfaces, reassemble the phone (put battery back in), turn on and go about your day. No phone case, no screen protector. Great times.

Whatever but Lumia must come back with Zeiss optics and its earlier basic features which many of us loved the most!

I think the front of the Lumia reboot renders look great for modern day times with that squared off build vs the curved screen corners, but those camera bumps really give me the ick and look like an afterthought.

Serves as a reminder that the HMD phone won't be too faithful of that classic Lumia design, and is rather just drawing some inspiration from it to bank on nostalgia..

Had a lumia 920, that phone was built like a tank, I never bothered to slap a case on it

Lumia is a blast from the past. I had two while at uni (my first ever contract phones), and I, overall, loved them. The lack of apps wasn’t good but I loved what it did have. I’d maybe look at one for a future phone for my niece (I buy her a new phone or donate my old one and would love it if they were budget friendly).

I am very excited about the new CMF Phone 1. The only point I would like to highlight is that I wish their logo at least had the glyphs illuminated.

Gad dammit I miss the Lumia. 800 and up to the 950. Still have the latter. Cortana was epic and way better than "ok Google"

Even better than a voucher for a charger is what Xiaomi did with the mi11 series in response to the s21, where you just choose whether you would like a charger in the box or not for free

I loved my 920. Then went all out on a 1020. I also had a 1520. All are iconic and I'm really happy we are getting something that resembles the fabula design again.

The dial on the CMF phone reminds of a old Sony phone - the CMF J70 I think. Also a new cocktail for you - bare with me - Jack Daniels and Ginger Beer. I call it the Ed Sheeran as it's a Ginger. C U Next Cheers. Dave

Lumia was my happy place to, N9, and various models up to the 1020. I bought Lumias for everyone. And i had lots of models myself.

I no longer like HMD phones. I liked my £399 Nokia 8 which was basically a clone of the Pixel XL. Unfortunately all recent Nokia/HMD phones have slow MediaTek processors slower than the snapdragon in my now broken Nokia 8.
