To understand her significance, one must grasp the broader context of Egyptian religious beliefs. These deities were not mere characters but embodied fundamental forces shaping the Egyptians' spiritual, cultural, and everyday existence.

At the core of Wadjet's identity is her representation as a cobra, a symbol teetering between protection and peril. Associated closely with the sun god Ra, she serves as his protective eye, symbolizing both the potential danger of a coiled serpent and the vigilant safeguarding found in the all-seeing eye.

Wadjet's myths weave a rich tapestry of narratives, each shedding light on different facets of her character. One notable myth places her in the forefront of the battle against Apep, the chaos serpent, showcasing her role as a defender of cosmic balance and order. Furthermore, Wadjet is intricately tied to creation myths, symbolizing the transformative power of the divine feminine in the shaping of the world.

Moving beyond the myths, Wadjet's influence permeated various aspects of Egyptian life. Her role as a guardian extended to the protection of pharaohs and the kingdom itself, illustrating her integral role in the collective consciousness of the ancient Egyptians. From religious rituals to daily customs, Wadjet's presence was palpable, influencing the cultural landscape in profound ways.

What I found interesting is that she's the daughter of Ra & protector. When I asked Google if she is the same as Bast, it told me Wadjet, Bastet' & Mut were all absorbed into the same being eventually. Bastet is definitely my favorite Goddess, so I'm interested if anyone can clear this up for me. Wadjet is really cool too, so it would make sense if she was just a different manifestation of her. She not only fights the snake, but sometimes she is one!!! 😮
