I don't care what anybody says - since I first heard this song as a teen, I knew the harmonies were heavenly, and that the muskrats were only symbolic of what real love could be amongst human beings - as simple as sharing cheese, bacon, and rubbing toes, and swaying to the absolutely beautiful beat and holding one another in each other's arms. Doesn't get more simply beautiful than that. You just have to look beyond the meaning of the finite words.
