The word "Activist Investor" is getting thrown around a lot because of the proxy battle between Nelson Peltz, Trian Management Group, Bob Iger, and the Walt Disney Company board. It's really easy to get confused so let's set the record straight.

I know investors play the long game, however losing money from movies, merchandise, fans, audiences and public image. Their got be something in motion for these investor will fight back hard to remove these incompetent board members. If not Disney will be bankrupt.

I have an good understanding of finance and could tell you that activist investor is merely a shareholder who merely wants to control the direction of a company, Carl Ichan being a prime example of an investor. In the case of Peltz, he's just one of those risk adverse investors and want see Disney go in the right direction. And for the record this isn't exactly the first time Disney has face criticism over its direction. Prior to the Eisner years Disney was in the dumps.
