Who is Grace Hopper?

Who is Grace Hopper? Grace Hopper was a computer scientist (when there were few) and an admiral in the U.S. Navy. The next Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference will be held in Phoenix, Arizona in October 2014.

She is one of my heroes! I had the privilege to actually meet and speak with her several times in my early Navy career. She was absolutely fascinating to listen too. Very down to earth and gracious. Somewhere in a box in my closet are the “nano seconds” (wire) she used to had out. God bless amazing Grace. Thank you lord for the blessing of being in her presence.

Arguably one of the single most important figures in modern computing.
If you listen to some of her lectures from the 80’s you can hear how far ahead of the curve she was.

Honestly, when listing her history & accomplishments, I feel you've severely down played them by accident.
A simple example: at Yale she was one of the first women in the world to get a PhD in mathematics and one of the first 30 in general to get a PhD.
