It is super rewarding to see wildlife, like grizzly bears, during our Continental Divide Trail thruhike! This is how we keep ourselves and the bears safe while sharing the landscape with grizzly bears in Wyoming and Montana. #Shorts

I love how respectful you sound towards the animals in general, especially bears. You get you’re in their space and don’t want to startle or bother them, it’s nice to see.

Thank you! So many people are scared of the bears or think they are pets! I love hiking and bears are part of living in the Rockies. Thank you for being respectful but not fearful!

My mom's old boss was born and raised in the back country of Montana. After retiring, he moved back to his family home. He used to tell us that whenever he went for hikes in Montana, he'd attach an old cow bell passed down in his family to his backpack. Other hikers would tell him they could hear his bell more than a mile up or down the trail from him. He said if other hikers can hear him, so can the bears 😂

From someone who lives in grizzly country: PRACTICE using your bear spray and be able to have it ready FAST. Grizzly are so fast. You startle one around a corner and he'll be in your face at the snap of finger.

In grizzly country one should wear bells and carry bear spray. Always keep an eye out for bear scat.

If it’s mainly berries and nuts, it’s black bear scat. If the scat has bells and smells like pepper spray, it’s a grizzly.

On a serious note, I completely disagree with him saying grizzlies are not dangerous. All it takes is rounding a blind corner on a trail and suddenly being face-to-face with a sow and cubs, and you are dead. It’s happened lots of times. No amount of preparing can prevent that.

Thank you!! So many bother the wildlife and wonder why they got hurt or someone with them had a negative encounter. If you leave them alone, respect them and observe from afar negative encounters are just like you said slim to none. Thank you thank you thank you for passing on this very simple but so crucial information for those in the outdoors.

I was stuck behind a black bear waddling his butt down the highway between Sunshine Village and Banff on my bicycle last week. Held me up for 20 minutes LOL

You guys are great.

Such a brave element of what you guys do. Thanks for the knowledge too, in my country we don't have bears. Just lots of crocodiles spiders and snakes.
