Left out one thing that the Dutch have that the Belgians don’t... GOOD ROADS

(I’ve lived in Belgium for a while as a kid and we could always tell that we’d crossed the border because the roads got noticeably bumpier 😂)

Don’t forget about our second official language Frisian, which is also spoken in the north of the Netherlands and created various dialects throughout the whole country

Fun fact: The meaning of Wallonian comes from Proto-Germanic "Walhaz" meaning foreigner. It was name given to them by the Germanic people to the Romanized people in Gallia Belgica who adopted the Vulgar Latin.

And another funny thing is that Romanians who also speak a Romance language were called Vlachs meaning also foreigner but it was mostly referred to the Latin speaker but soon after it took the meaning of Shepherd. It was borrowed by the Proto-Slavs from the Goths that spoke a Proto-Germanic language. A common thing between Romanians and Wallonians is that Wallonians calls the South and Southeast of Walloonia *Ardennes meaning Highland the exact way the Romanians calls Transylvania *Ardeal which probably means also Highland as Transylvania is a plateau. 🇷🇴❤🇧🇪

To me there was only one factor for comparison that mattered: I am an Austrian studying full time in Belgium. I started my studies in the first full year of covid. And let me tell you, Belgium is such an understanding and lenient country, where the government doesn't try to make your life hell. The measures were so relaxed in comparison to my home country, where my friends and family couldnt even go out without an ffp2 mask. Everything was closed whereas in Antwerp we even had cafes and restaurants open with tables and heaters outside, for those who are not vaccinated. No one was shamed for any choice they made. I had such a great and fun time while Austria and Germany were in complete depri-mode.
Edit: Dank je wel, België!
Merci à toi, la Belgique!
Danke dir, liebes Belgien!
