Elite Dangerous Cinematic - The Thargoid War

Shortly after the failure of the Proteus Wave superweapon, eight unidentified interstellar anomalies were discovered. These anomalies all appeared to be heading straight for the human-occupied bubble. The anomalies were accompanied by large numbers of thargoid vessels. In November of 3309, they arrived in the bubble. This marked the start of a new war between the thargoids and humanity. The anomalies appeared as large caustic gas clouds and were renamed to thargoid maelstroms. A large number of systems around the maelstroms have fallen under thargoid control. At first, it was not possible to reach the centre of the maelstrom because it was protected by a pulse that would push away any ship attempting to get close. Recently, a device known as the 'Thargoid Pulse Neutraliser' was developed to counteract the thargoid pulse. This allowed commanders to reach the centre of the maelstrom. At the centre of all maelstroms, thargoid motherships, also known as Titans, where discovered.
