Vikings and the Sinclair's - The beginning of the Sinclair Clan - The Old Wick Castle

In this RV Traveling the USA video, we continue our search for Sinclair family ties in Scotland. We visit the Old Wick castle, the oldest castle in Scotland. Here we find where the Vikings met up with and married a Sinclair. So come along as we dig deeper into the past.

My grandfathers a Sinclair, born in Glasgow, emigrated to Southern Africa after the 2nd world war. I married a Macleod and visited Isle of Skye January this year. It was freezing, raining shards of ice. I’m hoping to get to the North of Scotland soon but during warmer weather, visiting the home of the Sinclair’s. Indecently my son rode his bike from Brighton to Inverness, gathering great respect for the Scots in their kilts in those conditions. Blessings from South Africa.

I'm a direct descendant of the Sinclair's of Shetland in the 15th century.
After having an Orcadian mother and a heap of Orcadian ancestors, we were quite surprised to find our Shetland connection which was quite easy to trace to Havra.

My principal known Scots ancestors were two Sutherlands, father & son, who evidently came from or through Wick to join the Black Watch Regiment at the time of the American Revolution. Afterwards they were given land in New Brunswick. I think the younger married a MacLeod.
