So for your spoke, I do a little more than what you did and when you swing use more of your elbow. Your arm is pretty straight and you're using a lot of wrist. Especially for a head loop you want to swing out and around, the only thing that shouldn't be moving is your shoulder

First step is to roll your ROPE up then make a LOOP and hold it to where it can increase in size as ur swinging then throw and pull ur ROPE tight as soon as the LOOP raps around the CALF OR STEER

Keep your elbow at more of a 90 and speed up your swing a little

And don't forget to bend ur as at a 90 degrees and when u throw the rope ur hands will be vertical but the crucial part is right here u got to flip ur hand horizontally when u throw the rope cause it will make ur open wider

Small question, do you need to have a stiff rope for a lasso? The only ropes I have are those dollar store polypropylene ones and it would be kinda useless to buy a stiff rope just for a lasso.
