Two Indian Air Force fighter jets have crashed after colliding with each other in mid-air, an Su-30MKI and a Mirage 2000 from Gwalior AFS in Morena, Madhya Pradesh during Indian Air Force combat exercises. Two pilots have survived after ejecting successfully, while Indian Air Force SAR has been unable to locate the third pilot who has died.

A Mirage 2000H Serial No. KF 128 was involved in the crash. The aircraft, alongside Su-30MKIs, were engaged in dissimilar air combat training exercises when their wings collided leading to aerodynamic breakdown of the Mirage 2000H which crashed 30 kilometres from Gwalior AFS. The aircraft was assigned to the IAF’s No. 7 Squadron, ‘Battle Axes’.

Additionally, a third Indian military aircraft has also crashed in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Currently the Indian Air Force has not confirmed the type of aircraft. It is said to be a military chopper.

Last time Indian Airforce had a same day 2+1 crash, it was 27 Feb 2019 on the day of Operation Swift Retort. Indian Airforce largely due to poor training standards, old equipment and poor maintenance facilities along with deviation from standard flying operating procedures frequently sustains aircraft crashes.
