🇬🇷 MANI Peninsula, Vathia and Tenaro Greece

Deep Mani is the most southerly and barren area in the Mani Peninsula, Greece.

Located on the most southerly tip of the Peloponnese, it is also home to the most southerly point in mainland continental Europe. Located 2 hours from Kalamata and about 5 hours from Athens, this is Real Greece for explorers and travellers in the Peloponnese. A good place as a base in Mani is the town of Areopoli, on the edge of Deep Mani.

The last village before the end is Vathia, an abandoned village of famous Mani tower houses, dating from about 1550 and famous for its amazing views and abandoned medieval streets.

7km further south is the end of the road, and Tenaro, where we find the temple of Poseidon, Hypnos, the Oracle of Death and the Gates of Hades, the entrance to the Greek Underworld, Hades.

This is where the ancient Greeks believed the entrance to the underworld, Hades existed and where Hercules performed his labour to tame Cerberus, the 3 headed dog who guarded the entrance to The Underworld.

Sorry to break it to you but tarifa spain is the southernmost point of continental europe. Gibraltar is more south from where you are too. So that would place you in third.
