Selfless stranger helps New Richmond family surprise Navy sailor with 'birthday steak'

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Since he was just 10-years-old, Robert Shane Jones Jr. and his family have a tradition: On his birthday, instead of a birthday cake, Robert (his family calls him "Shane") wanted birthday steak, complete with matchstick candles.
Shane is turning 19, and while he is currently away from his home (New Richmond, Ohio) serving in the Navy as an Electrician's Mate on the USS John C. Stennis, his family still wanted to celebrate that birthday tradition.
Shane's mother, Amy, was able to pull off this "doozy" of a surprise with the help of an "amazing selfless stranger", who is also named Amy!
"This is his second birthday in a row away from home so I wanted to somehow surprise him with his special birthday tradition all the way from Ohio! I found a woman willing to cook him a full steak meal and deliver it to him!" said Shane's mother, Amy. "I found the woman on a Facebook site called 'Birthday Wishes', it is a site with lists of every military base on this planet and volunteers that live close by them who are willing to cook, shop, deliver, etc. for just the cost of materials."
The ruse was this: Shane would be FaceTiming with his family so that he could be a part of his sister's birthday celebration that was going on at that moment. The FaceTiming allowed them to discover and relay where he was at that moment to Amy (the selfless stranger), who showed up with his birthday steak (that she had cooked for him!). The surprise was recorded, and Shane's family was singing Happy Birthday to him through the phone when it happened.
"In the video, you can see the moment he realizes what's happening... when she said 'steak dinner' he knew immediately it was me and what was going on. That's when he gets instantly red and starts fighting back tears," said Shane's mother Amy.
