Always bittersweet when pond season is ending. You have to wait until next year to start again but you also get to see the results.

Still in the mid to high 80’s here in Chicago! The nights are in the 60’s. I have maybe 2 weeks left. I’ll be bringing them in soon.

Thanks for the reminder. I need to get moving on getting swordtails out of my 35g pond in Central Jersey. I look forward to seeing you, KJE, and many others at the BCAS auction.

I don't drain mine. I do have a heater that last winter kept up really well until the outdoor outlet it was plugged in to fried. Then i lost all of my endlers that were in the pond. This winter i am hoping i don't lose another outlet but this time the extension cord is plugged in to an outlet in the garage. I will be scooping some and putting them in my temporary 20 gallon tank in the house just in case. Also my super red bn plecos are coming back in for the winter soon. Our temps spent a week in the lower 60's as a high and upper 40's to mid 50's for a low but this week are back up in the 80's again so when they drop again i will choose who comes in and who toughs out the winter. There are way too many to bring everyone in and i only have 3 indoor tanks; a 6 gallon, a 10 gallon and a 20 tall.

You were a lot more casual then me I think, I had a separate tub I moved all my floating plants into first, then scooped guppies and when I went to go back to grab some of the plants to take inside i saw tons of super tiny guppie fry that had been stuck in the plants when i moved them so then i was scooping guppies out of both tubs. Then trying to deal with all the fish that wanted to hide in all the mulm, ended up getting them all but what a nightmare. And oh my aching back. Ive gotta come up with a better system next year

If I did ponds, my area here in western Arizona would just begin a pond season, finally down in the low hundreds during the day and low 70’s at night. Hell, our days will not dip down into the 70’s until November, maybe even December. Hard to keep ponds when the nighttime temps are in the nineties and daytime averages are about 115, with stretches of 120 and above

I’m in Deep South Alabama. I’ve got the rest of the month at least.
One of my tubs got a dragonfly nymph. I didn’t realize it in time to save the fish. My other tubs have fish in them that are large enough to eat the nymph. Frustrating.👹

Hi Michael. What do you use to treat your fish with internal parasites?
