Erie Insurance review: "...Upon contacting Erie and asking for agent, I was informed he was on a paid company cruise because they had won an award for selling most insurance in a company contest. Upon filing a claim, after explaining what caused the issue in first place, it took a week to get a appointment from adjustor, who was very incompetent from very beginning. Then on day he comes I get three identical letters in mail in separate envelops stating he would like to discuss our claim.

And, just the like the gift that keeps on giving, you're premium is going up. Even with no payout, when you file any claim, you're treated as higher risk. This will also show up on a CLUE report when you shop for other insurance.

I also agree that you should review your coverage on annual basis, and make sure you are adequately covered for worst-case scenarios. Getting the cheapest possible premium doesn't help with situations like this. And as you discovered, many of these companies are focusing solely on sales. On the Claims side, they practice what lawyers call Deny Delay and Defend. They'll initially DENY the claim (based on exclusions in your policy document), they''ll DELAY you in getting an alternative resolution (adjuster not returning calls), and they'll DEFEND their actions in court by presenting evidence you're trying to commit fraud.

Mold damage can be covered if it results from a covered peril (such as a pipe burst). The problem is you have to prove that the previous pipe burst directly caused the mold issue. The insurance company doesn't believe it did, and that's why Erie is bringing up the exclusions. I agree the adjuster should have handle the situation better. I would contact Erie Insurance and request to speak a claims supervisor and advised him/her of how you were treated. You might get a better resolution. I would also file a complaint with the Insurance Commission in your state.

Cancel your policy. Everybody should. Know why? Look at their name Erie= eerie= spooky. A ghost came to your house.

Anything that occurs over time isn't and shouldn't be covered by insurance. If the moisture had been rectified sooner, the damages would have been lower.
