I'm with a small private carrier and I couldn't agree more, old school guy with real values and respect for what we do. Salary paid weekly no matter what we do!

I have drove school bus and some truck and beeing 19 and raised in the trucking industry. Now seeing pupil, public, and freight transport in a whole different way with only 1 year experience beeing trained on how we need to be verry cautious around railroad crossings and that there too many train and vehicle accidents. It made me think that he was full of himself when he first said that and it would take many many years to come up with a "state of the art rail system" that Bernie wants to create.

I've been to Walmart DCs and done runs for them. Not much different than the company I'm working for. It could be much worse but company work is a far different animal than independent driving witch is where you see a big difference.

I work for an in house fleet; its the opposite.
Due to: the core business is not "trucking" its "manufacturing" their product. To the company transport is simply a cost of doing business. If they can drive the cost down instead of charging premium for the service, then they will.
No benefits; no raises; impossible standards to reach bonuses; paper logs, so you'll be outlaw.
This is my experience.

One of the big super markets had its own drivers/trucks and paid realy good. Then it decided to farm it out to Eddie Stobart( a well known truck company in the UK). The drivers left by the bus load. My Dad was a truck driver and told me not to bother as the money was crap. Most of the new drivers are from Europe. I would like to know what there driving test involves, more than likely its just drive back and forth.

Do you have to have your own authority or does it vary? Because Walmart has their own fleet right? But they outsource alot of freight also. GreatWide used to pull a great deal of their freight. But as we all know that good Ol'Swift has that account now! So how does that work? I enjoy your videos and old school knowledge that you share. Thanks👍

Hey, I'm 21 years old and I just got my Alberta "Q" or Air Brake endorsement and I've been thinking about getting my class 1 and becoming a professional driver. I was told that companies won't hire me because of my age since the cost of insurance would be too high. What are your thoughts?
