Today, we take a look at the early life of Sertorius and his first baptism of fire on the field of battle at the disastrous Battle of Arausio, which took place in modern-day Southern France in 105 BC

Quintus Sertorius (123-73 BC) was populares politician and general, bitter opponent of the Sullan regime established after the end of Sulla's Civil War in 81 BC. Sertorius would stand alone in Hispania as the last of the major Marian leaders, holding out during the Sertorian War.
