You can find out more about Wasteland 3 here:

Lyrics:

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port
Aboard this tiny ship.

The mate was a mighty sailing man,
The skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day
For a three hour tour, a three hour tour.

The weather started getting rough,
The tiny ship was tossed,
If not for the courage of the fearless crew
The Minnow would be lost, the Minnow would be lost.

The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle
With Gilligan,
The Skipper too,
The millionaire and his wife,
The movie star,
The Professor and Mary Ann,
Here on Gilligan's Isle.

So this is the tale of our castaways,
They're here for a long, long time,
They'll have to make the best of things,
It's an uphill climb.

The first mate and his Skipper too
Will do their very best
To make the others comfortable
In their tropic island nest.

No phone, no lights, no motor cars,
Not a single luxury.
Like Robinson Crusoe
It's primitive as could be.

So join us here each week, my friends,
You're sure to get a smile
From seven stranded castaways
Here on Gilligan's Isle,
Here on Gilligan's Isle,
Here on Gilligan's Isle.

As a kid growing up in the 90s they were always playing shows like Gilligans Island, Happy Days, Leverne & Shirley, etc. so of course the theme songs were burned into my cortex. Fantastic shows even though I always saw them as shows for old people at the time. Still great to watch, especially when there was nothing else on TV. A couple of years ago I was playing Wasteland 3 and as I was driving around in the Kodiak this track came on the radio. By around the 0:26 mark a huge confused smile started to form on my face even though I didn't know why yet. I started to sing along like i was possessed not knowing where I knew the song from. It took me a few more seconds to remember where this was from. This made me so happy and sad at the same time. Bittersweet because the memories it brought were good but then my happiness and excitement turned to sadness as I realized I had no one to share this with. I lost all of my family a few years before so I carry these memories in silence. That combined with the tragic tone of the game and loss of our world to nuclear war with A.I. really got to me. Just like the fictional characters in the game, wandering the wasteland alone, surviving, and suddenly getting a brief glimpse of life before the dark times.

I had to look this up and get the track.

Its so funny (and frankly believable) that the iconic TV show stood the test of time and managed to live on as a sea shanty in the post-apocalyptic future.

For all ye young-ins out there, this is Gilligan’s Island theme song (an “ancient”, b&w TV show) classed up as a sea shanty. I thought it’d be a riot if it was ever done & sure enough, lo & behold this talented group took up the endeavor! Great job!

The Postman, the novel, has a detail like this. When people tell stories of the old days they recount ad jingles and theme songs!

I was on the Over Map and this song started. And as soon as I registered the lyrics, the Kodiak immediately went into park and I just listened.

The feeling when you drive the Kodiak while listening to this. The feeling of loneliness, the feeling of the wasteland, the feel of hope and despair at the same time.

it makes sense for the post apocalyptic setting. In A way the people of the wasteland have been castaway from civilization too.

WOW! So haunting with that picture, and the music is
similar to The Wreck Of The Edmond Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot.

The last song Wasteland 3 needs for a cover is “Suicide is painless”, the mash theme song

I-Am-He.

The intro to Gilligan's Island was a sea shanty. But they are clearly channeling the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald which is not a sea shanty.
It's weird hearing the two mashed together.

How did this never play on my play-through? What other songs did I miss? This is art.

Hate it or like it no matter what you say about wasteland 3 the music is some of the best I had ever heard in any video game. And if you say music in wasteland 3 is bad than God damn it I sure as fuck do not respect your opinions.

Fuck! Thank you!

Every single time I look for a song from a video game...it's that one song that NO other person has in the official ODST list.

This shit made me crack up when it came on in game

Thought it was the edmund fitzgerald song cause of the intro.

The "each week" stanza implies that the author knows the show was fictional?

Thank you! Do you know if there is a full version of the song from the release trailer for the add-on?

Sounds like a Hobbit song sung by the dwarves...

Do these people even know what an island even is now? Or heck what oceans even are anymore.
