Dadaab Stories, by Abdullahi Mire
Показать описание
Abdullahi Mire grew up in Kenya’s Dadaab refugee camp, having fled Somalia’s civil war in 1991. Mire was later able to go to school and build a journalism career. He says there were more opportunities during his time in the early 90s and 2000s. There was no war in Ukraine or Sudan, or Syria so there was some international attention on helping refugees in Dadaab. However, today the situation is much different. It seems nobody knows about the drought crisis in the Horn of Africa. The failure of five consecutive rainy seasons has turned the lives of people upside down. No place in the region is spared. Those fleeing across borders are left with no help as everyone is reeling from the impact of the prolonged drought.
