NASCAR is a uniquely American motorsport. It has always been about testing team and driver performance on as equal footing as possible. In this Science Garage, we took a field trip to Texas Motor Speedway for a behind the scenes look at the Science of Stock Cars. Bubba Wallace Jr let us know how the new rules feel on the track, and Parker Kligerman walks us around his car and tells us about all the little things teams do to get an edge in the race. It’s about aerodynamics, it’s about downforce and drag, and it’s about playing by the rules, while searching for the loopholes. NASCAR RULES!

Bart teaches us how cars work buy blowing stuff up and cutting things in half. It’s a science show for the car lover who’s easily bored. Join Bart as he explains the science behind everything automotive. This is cars down to the atom. This is Science Garage.

Some of our best videos ever are coming out soon, stay tuned so you won't miss a thing!

I think homologation rules should be stricter. If you’re going to race a v8 rwd Camry, you have to sell a v8 rwd Camry

I actually think Nascar would be cooler if they still raced stock cars. The fact you could go to the dealer and buy the same car that won on Sunday would be cool.

The most important thing I learned from this was how “souped” came to be

New rules suck. They should bring back the homologation requirement. It would be much more interesting to me if Mustangs, Cameros, and Challengers/Chargers were out there duking it out. Require the full suite of safety equipment, and let the manufacturers bring the fastest car they can make. The brand wars used to be just as exciting as the drivers racing, that's what made NASCAR unique from most other racing.

"This isn't a cooking show. This is a car channel."

Said while standing in a *kitchen* with car parts laying all over the place.

Nascar: k, everyone has to run the same tires, same engine, same aero, same weight - fair is fair right?
LeMans: my dudes! Here's a guy in an electric car and a kid with a wagon against a 1000 horsepower Audi spaceship!

I went to my first NASCAR race a few years back at Kentucky Speedway and it was an amazing experience. I thought it would be boring at first because it's just a bunch of people driving in a big circle but, the smell of race fuel, loud engines that make your ears ring, crazy fans, and just the over all environment makes for an amazing experience.

I like how most of Motorsports use a tool that can never fail them even if it’s in the high tech cars.

I saw my first NASCAR race at Charlotte, N.C. and I was awestruck. I'm now a fan and am trying to learn as much as I can. This video helped me. Thank you. 40 cars charging toward me at top speed is an unforgettable experience. Long live NASCAR!!!
