Exploring the Derbyshire Dales: Cromford & Black Rock #hiking #rambling #outdoors #derbyshire

My friend Emma and I drove up to the Derbyshire Dales & Peak District as part of a meet up event organised by Lou & Lol’s Travels. See their channel link below.

We started from Cromford Canal, walked up to the old pump house & High Peak Junction. This part of the walk was flat with lots of ducks to keep us entertained. Shortly after we began our ascent up a steep footpath up to Black Rocks, which is a rock outcrop presenting beautiful views of the Derbyshire Dales including the quarry, Matlock, Matlock Bath, Cromford and if you look hard enough you can even see the cable cars at the Heights of Abraham in the distance. We descended back to Cromford & enjoyed a tasty pub lunch. The walk it’s self was about 5 miles. It was very enjoyable & would definitely do it again.

Lovely veiws as your started to gain height, very picture postcard. Black rocks was excellent, right up our tea guzzling alleys!

I love Black Rocks, such a marvelous place. The Trig, Bolehill, just above it is an Ethel too!

The multi person hikes look fun, I'm not sure they are for me, I'm quite solitary though I would like to try one at some point!

that walk is great got everything you need, toilets, food, views, history, the renovated building you saw at the canal is now finished, i think it was the lock keepers cottage, the pump house can be seen working once a month i think through the summer, great vid again, oh and you can take trips on the narrow boat from cromford warf through spring/summer, search friends of cromford canal, its about £7.50 goes up to the high peak junction.
