Exactly right. Laboratory testing is good, but it’s not until professionals get their hands on these products that we know how good they really are.

My man at work stil uses his first gen chrome head snap-on electric ratchet. He refuses to trade it up he likes it so much.

I bought the Snap On 14.4 electric ratchet in 2015. Had only a few months, and it fell into a drain pan of hydraulic oil, about an inch and half full. Took it out, and blew it off, used solvent to clean off. It still worked after it dried, but smoked a little, for a few minutes. That one electric ratchet lasted approx 3 years, until the ratcheting mechanism stopped turning. Turned in, and got a replacement. This one, I still have, and works perfect still. Great tool.

It all boils down to what you like. I listen to many reviews and choose the one which I feel is the right one for me. I appreciate the time and effort that people like CP put in to share their honest opinions about the tools.

I bought the 3/8 snap-on long neck when it came out about 7/8 years ago, I’ve never greased the head it’s been dropped and kicked and thrown many times and it’s only just went in for the first time for repair this week! Absolutely fantastic tool if you ask me 💪😎

My 3/8 snapon 14.4 ratchet fell in a pan and got submerged in coolant a few seconds. I dried it blew it out got it as dry as I could again and still works great.

I bought a 3/8” drive Milwaukee off of EBay just to try it out. I bought it for one specific job that I do quite often. As I was finding more uses for it I decided to look at Snap-On. I’ll be honest, the price was a deterrent until I held one. As soon as I held one it made the Milwaukee feel like a cheap toy. My Snap-On guy took care of me and I traded my Milwaukee in for what I paid for it and an additional discount off of the tool. I now own three Snap-On cordless ratchets. I do mobile service, so for me to add on another battery platform says a lot. There is only so much room in a service van.

The one thing NOBODY mentions on the Milwaukee tools, is the ACTUAL 5 year warranty. The tool only truly has a 1 year warranty, the last 4 are only for failures of the tool as to craftsmanship. I.E. if you lose a ball detent in the head, that’s not warranty; It falls under wear and tear and is not warranty. If you drop it off the engine bay of a car in the air on a lift and it breaks in half, it’s not warranty. With snap on, they don’t care. If you send a Milwaukee tool in and it isn’t a repair that’s warranty, they will repair it at the cost of the failed part plus labor and shipping. With snap on, you just pay X amount and get a fully reconditioned tool (or new if applicable.)

I can say the m12 line has some nice tools that I haven’t seen from other manufacturers yet as a field tech. Or at least others didn’t have when they came out the m12 right angle die grinder is what started me on them. Super handy doing water pumps and stuff outside of a shop setting. The m12 soldering iron is also handy at times. I can say that paddle trigger on the ratchet isn’t the best I don’t mind the feel but I’ve almost ripped it off in tight places a couple times.

Snap on for the win 14.4 line is solid i have both milwaukee and snap on my milwaukee tools batteries are junk they are all cracked and dont make good connections when i want it to work i want it to work not hold the batterys a certen way to get it to work or if you use the impact and really rattle on something it cuts out and the light blinks. My tools are not that old and i dont abuse them. Snap on for the win hands down.

Bro I have been saying this snap on tools are designed strictly for the professional tech for everyday long term use that 14.4 line is hands down the best as far as design ease of use and stamina they take a beating and keep turning bolts don’t forget if they are non repairable snap on sends a brand new unit for the 125 they charge after warranty Milwaukee dewalt husky hart are all construction tool company’s that have moved into the automotive area so they have many flaws in the tool designs all Milwaukee wants to claim is torque and speed but durability and ease of function matter just as much this was a great video keep pumping them out cp

That is one thing I like about SnapOn power tools: the ability to rebuild. It’s $120, but they don’t just repair it, they gut it. I bought a SnapOn 3/8 ratchet from a friend when he bought the long neck version. Used it for a year or two and it started giving out. Got it rebuilt and that thing was like brand new. I love my Milwaukee stuff, and planned on replacing my ratchet just to have one battery platform. I do like that ratchet a lot though.

Good video CP, no doubt the snap on an Matco are nice tools . You also have some good. Points about them . I’m a autobody technician for 25 years. I have a little bit from every tool company. I refuse to spend the extra money on the snap on . I can buy 2 for the price of one with Milwaukee . I’ve not had one problem with any of my Milwaukee tools . They have made me money. I respect your opinion. It’s just not worth it to me .

Totally agree, I have the Milwaukee 3/8 fast model. I hate paddle, hate the on off, hate the head for switching directions. The battery connection is the worst. I like the size and speed but that’s it.

Had the non brute short Snap-On ratchet and loved it. Had it 3 years and only problem I had was completely my fault in accidentally dropping it in a catch pan of hydraulic oil. Lol. Buy after the rebuild i Had it 2 years and never had a problem with it.

Just upgraded to the brushless last week and already love it. Can definitely feel the torque difference and the halo lights are way brighter than the single light on the older ratchet.

Good video CP. I'd like to the project farm update their video with the new brushless ratchet from Snap-On.

Project farms opinion about Snap-on products when vs contenders is the price. His videos are more ment for the best tools for the budget do it yourself types, that won't pay Snap-on prices. But I agree his tests for the ratchets were not practical for normal shop use. I think everyone can agree that snap-on cordless ratchets are the best. Now their other battery tools are not so good compared to competitors, especially their 14.4v 3/8" impact which I have, it's dogged by Milwaukees m12 stubby 3/8 in every way. Now I'm extremely happy with their 14.4v screwdriver in the same body as the 3/8", I think its the CT861.

I'm in the market for a long reach 3/8" cordless. Got a couple day's worth of research in. Fully vested in the Milwaukee 18V battery platform. To buy their extended reach would have me jumping to their 12V system, so I'm open to going into another brand. The slim head and high torque of the Snap-On "Brute" is what I have my eye on. But, being merely a do-it yourselfer, the price is astronomical! I can appreciate being the best, but I also favor bang for the buck.

I've located a reasonably priced used bare tool, Snap-on CTR768, but buying batteries is off putting. $100+ for what is basically four $5.00 Samsung 25R 18650 2500mAh 20A batteries in a plastic housing. Sheesh! Not sure if I should pursue this, or settle for Milwaukee. Have a feeling I'll regret my decision either way!

Edit 12-26-22 Stumbled onto the Harbor Freight Hercules HD034B with a slim, long reach head. Only has 90 day warranty, so it must be REALLY good! 😆 Only 40 ft. lbs. of "max torque", but 275RPM. I'd love to trade those RPM for more torque. No doubt that would involve re-gearing it, which makes that hack a no go. Oh well, back to the hunt...

Just got the brushless 3/8 a few months ago, and I use it daily. Not complaining, but I have broken my nail more trying to pull those batteries than any other finger activity. Also commented on PF test, I was disappointed that he didn't use the newer model. Once again, great vidja!

I had an m12 that caught tightening rear brakes and the paddle broke. To be fair they had a new one to me in 6 days which broke last summer and they were closed for the rona. Hope it's still under warranty because I totally forgot
